Building on a legacy of unity since the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, the African Union (AU) was officially launched in 2002 in Durban, South Africa, to drive Africa's integration and development.

Our primary mandate is to drive integration and sustainable development, promoting peaceful co-existence, and building strategic global partnerships to realize the objectives of Agenda 2063.
